Varieties of Fan blades

There are so many different types of ceiling fans available for purchase these days. Many people think that the selection process is a simple one; they choose a design that they like, and they pay to have it installed in their home. However, one very important aspect that should be considered when choosing a ceiling fan is the blade type. Here are some of the different blade types available for ceiling fans.

Cloth Blades – Cloth blades are not as common as they once were. They are, however, still used for many different types of fans. If you have an older type of fan then it is likely that the blades will be made out of cloth. There are pros and cons that come with this type of fan blade. The main pro is that they are very easy to maintain, but the downside is the fact that they do not offer as much power as other types of blades.

Ceiling Fans

Plastic Blades – Cheaper models of ceiling fans tend to be made entirely out of plastic, including the blades. These types of blades can usually be found in fans used in bathrooms and kitchens. Again, there are advantages and drawbacks. First of all, plastic fan blades are very affordable. The downside is that they can be very fragile and easy to break.

Metal Blades – Metal blade fans are incredibly popular right now. There are plenty of reasons as to why this is the case. First of all, metal blades are highly durable, and will usually last for years. They are also very easy to clean. As well as this, they offer a lot more power than some of the other types of blades available, especially cloth. The only real downside is the cost. Metal blade fans can be very expensive.

Timber Blades – Timber blades, much like plastic blades, are cheap. They can be effective if they are used in the right environment, and they are significantly more durable than plastic blades. However, if you live in a particularly warm environment then it is unlikely that you will benefit from a fan with timber blades.

There are also many other types of fan blades for ceiling fans. Choosing the right type of blade will depend on several factors, including the humidity in your home, whether the fan is going to be used inside or outside, and also how much money you can afford to spend.
